POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities Attendant helps keep WRTA’s facilities, grounds, and vehicles clean, safe, and functional so service can run smoothly. Working under the Facilities & Maintenance Manager, this role performs daily cleaning/sanitizing of offices, restrooms, break areas, waiting areas, and shop spaces; handles routine grounds care and snow/ice removal; completes minor facility upkeep within skill level; safely stores/uses cleaning chemicals and PPE; and supports basic fleet prep (vehicle interior/exterior cleaning and staging as directed). The Attendant conducts routine inspections, reports hazards/deficiencies promptly, follows OSHA/ADA and agency safety procedures, and communicates clearly with Maintenance, Operations, and Dispatch.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean/sanitize interior spaces; perform scheduled deep cleans; keep storage areas orderly with SDS available.
Exterior upkeep: trash/debris pickup, light landscaping, snow/ice removal at entrances, ADA paths, staging zones.
Basic maintenance: simple repairs (e.g., bulbs/filters), report larger issues and assist vendors/contractors on-site.
Fleet support: clean vehicles, restock supplies, and stage/move vehicles on premises as directed.
Safety & reporting: use PPE, identify/mitigate hazards, maintain cleaning/inspection logs, support audit readiness.
Inventory: monitor and restock cleaning/PPE supplies; receive and organize deliveries.
STATUS & SCHEDULE
Part-Time, Non-Exempt; <30 hours/week.
Mostly weekdays with occasional early mornings/evenings/weekends for storms, events, or urgent needs.
BENEFITS
This part-time position is not benefits-eligible at this time. Required safety training and PPE are provided.
REQUIRED
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR.
Experience in custodial/janitorial/facilities work (paid, volunteer, or military).
Ability to use cleaning tools/equipment safely and follow SDS/chemical-handling and PPE procedures.
Able to regularly lift/carry up to 50 lbs; work indoors/outdoors in heat, cold, wind, and snow/ice.
Reliable, detail-oriented, good communication; able to use email and basic digital forms/work-order systems.
Must pass applicable background/screening per policy.
PREFERRED
1–2 years in a transit/industrial/public-sector facilities setting.
Familiarity with OSHA basics (HAZCOM/SDS, ladder safety, slip/trip/fall prevention, bloodborne pathogens).
Experience with snow/ice control and operation of light grounds/snow equipment.
